Two Tractors?

As many of you are probably aware, the semi received a minor upgrade for the start of the third season in Fall, 1984. Starting with "Knight of the Drones", a sleeper cabin was added to the cab. However, evidence is beginning to pile up that this was a completely different cab altogether. Points to back this up:

1. In season one's "Knight Moves", it's established that the interior of the semi is tan colored (see screenshot). Also, take note of the two air horns and the bullet shaped marker lights on the roof. This tractor seemed to carry the 1U13265 license plate.

2. Now, take a look at this screenshot from season four's "The Wrong Crowd" - the interior is gray. Also, the roof marker lights and horn configuration are different. This tractor seemed to carry the 2J01192 license plate.

Can anyone identify the sleeper cabin? In all of my research, I have never found another GMC General with this same sleeper cabin. Is it aftermarket or custom made? Don't know...

License Plates

Thanks to various behind the scenes images, we know that the semi was used not only as a prop in the series, but also as a way to haul the various K.I.T.T. cars to locations. Therefore, one might conclude that the license plates seen on the semi could be legitimate California plates. Could the semi be tracked down through the California DMV? Might be a long shot, but it's worth mentioning.

We have been able to identify four possible plates:

1U13265 (Cab - "Hearts of Stone", "Knight Moves")
2J01192 (Cab - "Killer K.I.T.T.")
1M 2963 (Trailer - "Knight Moves" - UNCONFIRMED, Very hard to read)

The fourth plate number comes from the clipping to your left. David is leaning up against what could be the semi. In the article, it shows a plate of 2F91318.

Can you identify any other plate combos from screenshots of the series? If so, let us know!

A Clue Regarding The Trailer

Back in 2002, "Knight Rider" stunt coordinator Jack Gill was interviewed for Knight Rider Legacy and in his interview, he makes mention of what happened to the semi after the series ended:

"It (the cab) was painted a different color and just rented out later, but the original semi, the box (trailer), sits on the backlot, not even in the tour section, just in the back behind the stages, the tires are flat on it, it just sits there. The paint job is all junk. You'd know it to see it. Its on the back side, on the other side of New York St."

Judging by his description, it would appear to be located where the "?" is on the satellite shot above. Unfortunately, many of those trailers are now gone, as shown by newer satellite images.

Welcome!

Welcome to FullPursuitToSemi.com.

The purpose of this website is simple - to determine the current location and condition of the tractor and trailer used as the F.L.A.G. semi in the 1982-86 series, "Knight Rider". This is a joint effort between Joe Huth (author of Knight Rider Legacy), Paul Nuthall (webmaster of Knight Rider Archive), Neil Epstein (webmaster of Knight Rider Online) and Matthew (Knight Rider Online Moderator). Please check back often for updates on this project.
